Women’s Worth tapestry
The Women’s Worth tapestry is also known as Honour the Women, Wurde der Frauen. This Arts and Crafts tapestry was designed by Austrian Marianne Stokes in 1912 with text from a 1796 poem entitled Women’s Worth, Ehret die Frauen. The original was woven at Merton Abbey by Morris & Co. It is now on display at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester. It illustrated five virtues of women: Courage, Nurture, Love, Wisdom and Fidelity.
